Controlling your kitchen lighting
When it comes to choosing your kitchen lighting, not only do you need to think about the fittings you need, but how to control them.
Kitchens are constantly becoming more technically advanced, with gizmos and gadgets to do just about everything! Including different controls for your lighting will not only make your kitchen more user friendly, but it will allow you to get the best out of your lighting too.
If you have lighting installed within drawers or cabinets fit a motion sensor if there isn’t one already integrated into the fitting. A motion sensor will automatically turn the lights on when the cabinet door or drawer is opened and turn them off when closed to ensure that electricity isn’t wasted.
If you are one for entertaining and hosting dinner parties, a dimming sensor switch is a must and will help you to create a more intimate atmosphere. You can install this discreetly under wall-hung cabinets and use it to turn the lights on and off, as well as to brighten and fade the level of light accordingly.
Alternatively, for added convenience, you could purchase a dimming remote control, which can be linked up to several different fittings. So as you sit down to enjoy your meal, you can easily turn the lights down without barely lifting a finger.
If you have colour changing mood lighting, you can also purchase a remote control for this. Use the remote to not only adjust the brightness, but to set one specific colour, or change the speed in which the colours change.
Controlling your lighting has now become so advanced that you can even do it from your smart phone or tablet computer! This way, there is no need to install different controls for different fittings, as you can adjust every source of lighting from the same piece of software. You can only imagine the technology available in 10 years’ time…..
