Dream Kitchens on C4’s Double Your House for Half the Money
Did you see last week’s episode of Channel 4’s Double Your House for Half the Money with property expert Sarah Beeny?
If so, you saw how to achieve your dream home in today’s economic climate – by revamping what you’ve got.
The show offered top tips for updating your home, from fancy garden offices to luxury bathrooms. But it’s the multi-functional kitchen diner that really stood out, produced for Ben and Eloise a young couple from Maidstone.
With a baby on the way they wanted to increase the size of their small detached home with a new and improved living area. Understandably they wanted the process to be as relaxed and enjoyable as possible, which is why they chose Ream. As with most couples, their expectations differed. Ben was after a stylish modern space, whereas Eloise wanted something more warm and homely. Combining both preferences, the designers at Ream produced an outstanding contemporary kitchen, dining and living area that really delivered the wow factor.
White glossy doors gave a sleek finish, while wood effect edging achieved a cosy feel. To make best use of the space, full-height drawer systems were used to provide maximum storage for the growing family. Also there were some wizzy electric opening cupboard units, which offered the couple easy access to pots, pans and food when cooking.
As you can see from the pictures below there was also a modern dining table for family dinners, and a comfy sofa area with flat-screen TV. Practical non-slip flooring was included with the little ones in mind, and also a fancy boiling water tap was installed to make midnight bottle feeds more bearable.
All in all Ben and Eloise now have a stylish room where they can spend quality time together as a family.
