Future Proofing the Kitchen Industry

By

As kitchen design becomes more complex, more sophisticated appliances are developed and wider ranges of materials are available, the role of kitchen designers in an educated market is becoming ever more demanding.

With London’s property boom continuing apace there are huge numbers of major refurbishments taking place and demand for beautifully designed kitchens has never been greater, so what will give potential students the edge when it comes to seeking work as a kitchen designer?

Until the launch of the award-winning Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design at Bucks New University the kitchen industry had no formal training available, with most taking place in-house, on an ad hoc basis. The Kitchen Design course is the only one of its kind in the country and offers the most comprehensive training leading to a Foundation Degree for those seeking to enter the vibrant kitchen industry.

Roundhouse Managing Director, and one of the student sponsors, Craig Matson says, “The course raises a positive profile for kitchen designers and is about future proofing our industry. Kitchen studios employing qualified designers can attract higher net worth prospects. Achieving an academic qualification in design brings a greater level of professionalism to the kitchen industry, improving our credibility with other industry professionals, retail clients and developers.”

Now in its second year, the award-winning kitchen design course is a three-year distance learning, work related degree. With great support from industry partners through generous sponsorship packages the course offers a great path into kitchen design. The Foundation Degree in Kitchen Design is proving very popular and places are now available for the forthcoming academic year.
