Let us worship
Blum UK, leading suppliers of furniture fittings, have joined The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers (WCFM) as a full Corporate Member – a move facilitated by their central position in the UK furniture industry.
Formed as a Guild in 1951 and granted the Letter Patent of a Livery Company in 1963, the WCFM is only the sixth Livery Company to be created since early in the 18th Century. By using its charitable status the WCFM lends immeasurable support to the entire furniture industry irrespective of size and status. This is done on a number of levels and also through direct collaboration with their sister charity the Furniture Industry Trust (FIT).
Blum UK Managing Director Mark Richardson says:
“Our involvement as Corporate Members of the WCFM will allow us to directly support their charitable and training activities and we are grateful to the Livery for this opportunity”
The origins of The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers are rooted in mutual help and support. Over the 56 years since the Company was founded (as a guild) this has developed into a wide range of charitable activities including: support for training within our industry and in higher and further educational establishments; promoting excellence in design and craftsmanship through our Guild Mark schemes (for Bespoke Furniture, Design in volume production, and excellence in Manufacturing) and the individual mentoring of young bespoke furniture makers.
The WCFM also seeks to improve general standards in the industry through involvement with The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) with whom Blum have a long standing and strong working relationship.
