Appliance Update

With summer now in full swing, it may be that cooking up a storm in the kitchen is the furthest thing from your mind. It’s more likely that you’re picturing that BBQ at the weekend, a trip to the beach on your week off or maybe even a break away from home. But we all know that it’s good to plan ahead so with this in mind, this month I’ve picked some of the latest appliance launches coming your way – perfect for autumn/winter projects…

MIELE REVEALS ITS BIGGEST LAUNCH IN ITS 120 YEAR HISTORY

Miele Generation 7000 has taken 72 months to develop, covers 15 product groups and comprises 353 models. With four updated design lines, it includes top of the range Pyrolytic ovens with a HD camera inside, allowing users to keep an eye on their food while it cooks, from their mobile phone. Additional highlights include the new VitroLine, which comes in Graphite Grey, Obsidian Black and Brilliant White, with glass fronted ovens and colour-coded handles.

All oven models feature touch control with automatic programmes and the Miele@Mobile app, which can control the cooking process. They can also be operated via Alexa’s voice control. There are also SmartSelect zoneless induction hobs with six-pot pan recognition, a new recirculation cooker hood with Con@ctivity 3.0 built in, remodelled dishwashers and redesigned coffee machines. www.miele.co.uk

ELICA UNVEILS FIRST INDUCTION HOB WITH INTEGRATED EXTRACTION AND SCALES

Italian appliance manufacturer Elica has launched the first extractor hob with integrated weighing scales. Now you can weigh ingredients right next to the pan, making the process simpler and speedier too. As the scales are heat resistant, you can also pop a pot onto the scales, touch ‘Reset Weight’ and start adding the next ingredient as you go. The Nikola Tesla Libra hob is available in black or white glass and also comes with touch controls, a bridge function to join adjacent cooking zones and a ‘Stop & Go’ option with scales that can also be used independently of the hob. www.elica.com

EVERHOT’S NEW MUSTARD RANGE COOKER

The latest colour launch from Everhot is a rich yellow shade that’s perfect for creating a striking centrepiece in a kitchen or open-plan design. The Mustard 90 is just one of the company’s energy efficient range cooker models, ideal for running off renewable energy, from solar panels to water turbines. Using less than half the energy of comparable range cookers, the ‘trickle-feed’ design needs only a small but steady flow of electricity, so it can run off a standard 13amp plug. www.everhot.co.uk

WHIRLPOOL LAUNCHES ITS FIRST CONNECTED DISHWASHER

The freestanding W Collection SupremeClean model (WFF 4033 DLTG) features MySmart Display, which is controlled via Whirlpool’s 6th SENSE Live® technology and can be operated remotely using the matching app. Compatible with iOS and Android devices, the free app enables users to monitor the appliance’s progress, create and store tailored settings, schedule a wash programme and access tutorials to discover additional functions. www.whirlpool.co.uk

NEFF ADDS CONNECTED APPLIANCES TO ITS PORTFOLIO

Neff customers will now be able to remotely control and manage their oven, hob, hood, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine via the Home Connect app. The app can also be linked with Amazon Alexa and IFTT, allowing users to manage their appliances using voice control. Highlights include the B48FT68H0 Slide&Hide single oven, which can be operated using Amazon Alexa voice control – particularly useful when your hands are full. And when dinner is ready, the app sends a smartphone notification. The added benefit of the app is a huge and regularly expanded range of recipes to choose from. Once a recipe is selected, the app will display all ingredients, cooking time and temperature, and guides you through the preparation. The app is also updated regularly with recipes and even has a Coffee Menu that is similarly updated with new coffees from all over the world. Choose anything from a flat white to a cortado and send the instruction to the C17KS61H0 coffee machine. www.neff-home.com

AEG LAUNCHES SENSEPRO HOB WITH WORLD’S FIRST EVER WIRELESS PROBE

This new induction hob comes with the world’s first ever wireless and battery-less food probe, allowing you to measure the core temperature of food to a precise +/- 1˚C for perfect results every time. Thanks to this advanced sensor technology, the internal temperature of food is tracked and the heat automatically adjusted. With the colour touch control display, users can pick from an extensive list of dishes and cooking techniques and can even select how they would like their food prepared. The SensePro hob also detects rising bubbles and effortlessly adjusts to a lower simmer, preventing and eliminating an over-boiling pan. www.aeg.co.uk
