Step into Christmas…

By

We’re all absolutely ready to really go for it this Christmas – well that’s the feeling we’re getting, anyway! So here we go with a festive, frivolous and frankly fantastic round up of some of the nicest Christmas ideas we’ve seen! Happy Christmas everyone!

Pick a Christmas theme colour to make an impact throughout your home – from kitchen to living rooms to bedrooms. A mix of bold reds, deep rusts, pinks and a hint of gold here and there will create a very warm and welcoming scheme. Decorations, wrapping, tree and accessories from a fantastic selection at Dobbies, these are from the Yuletide Wonder theme.

Add a few festive cushions to set the scene … And they make an excellent pre-Xmas gift too. This is the Christmas Wreath cushion from George Home at Asda. There’s also a Sausage Dog design too.

Cheers! These are the Artland Alpine selection of glasses from Not Just Jugs. Available in wine, gin, cocktail and champagne flutes, colours include Alpine Green, Gold, Silver and Red. Fabulous all year round, not just at Christmas.

If there’s a risk of too many helping hands in the kitchen for festive prep, it could be a good idea to have an extra hand mixer to hand. After all, there’s always another batch of whipped cream or another cake to mix or lumpy gravy to sort out. This is the KitchenAid Cordless Hand Mixer in Empire Red, also available in Black, Cream and Grey. It’s cordless, and comes with charger and lead.

A cast iron casserole means that winter stews and casseroles are virtually fool-proof, and of course, a bright red design looks great on the festive table as well. Try the  Procook Cast Iron Casserole in Graduated Red colourway. The 24cm size has a 4.7 litre capacity and is suited to all hobs, including induction. It comes with a 25-year guarantee so is rather a good investment (or addition to the Christmas wish list!).

Go ever-so-slightly off-piste with a selection of Christmas baubles and decorations from Rockett St George. A great idea for quirky gifts for old friends, or something crazy for the Secret Santa … We particularly like the Meowie Bowietree bauble.

A classic wreath is a nice investment – it can be used year after year and you can ring the changes with different ribbons or extra lights. This is the 60cm Blue Berry Christmas Wreath with Micro Lights from lights4fun.

Three of the best; Drinks trollies for Christmas entertaining: From left; Mimosa Drinks Trolley in dark bronze finish from Perch & ParrowDolly Gold Drinks Trolley with three castors from  Sweetpea & Willow; Stirling Drinks Trolleywith three shelf levels from  Atkin & Thyme.

Go for a back to nature woodland look with a set of Six Wooden Hanging Stars from Cox & Cox. Use them on a snow-dusted tree or to decorate a wreath for a homespun Christmas look.

From a gorgeous selection of light-up seasonally scented candles at Marks & Spencer, this clever design lights up when the wick has been lit – and it has a fabulous seasonal fragrance, too.

Well, we can dream that our Christmas hallway will look like this, can’t we?! In my case it would last about five minutes before there were three hoodies draped on the bannister and assorted pairs of trainers scattered at the bottom of the stairs. Oh for a tidy home that looks as Christmassy as this one! All decorations and inspiration from the Christmas Tropics theme at Dunelm.

Go for a dark and sophisticated dining room theme to create an intimate festive atmosphere. This tableware and decorations are all from the seasonal selections at John Lewis.  Those Forest Star Pattern Metallic Gin Glasses in Pink are very jolly, we love the idea of a pink Christmas!

High quality cookware and bakeware is a good investment, whether it’s for home use or as a Christmas gift. Consider the Appolia Ceramic Cookware from Peugeot, who make the long-lasting and reliable pepper and salt mills. These dishes are perfect for serving, and can be used straight from freezer to oven. Three of the best: Christmas accessories for your home and Christmas tree;  From left; Driving Home for Christmas bauble by Red Candy; Nutcracker Cushion from a selection at George Home at Asda. Lastly, it’s the Food Mixer Shaped Bauble from Sass & Belle

If you fancy something savoury as an option instead of mince pies and stollen, why not have a baking session and try the Festive Brioche Wreath with Baked Camembert, from the expert team at Rangemaster. Other tempting recipes include Chocolate Christmas Cake.

And finally … I’ve been trying out a new, refillable probiotic all-purpose cleaner from  Nookary. It’s suitable for all around the house, kitchen and bathroom and the gorgeous glass bottle is refillable – it comes with a 500ml pouch of concentrate, which is poured into the 500ml glass spray bottle and topped up with plain water. There’s enough for 10 refills at 50ml of concentrate per bottle. The Sicilian Lemon fragrance is lovely, it really works, breaking down dirt without leaving traces behind. I’ll definitely be whisking over all the surfaces with this to keep everything clean and hygienic over Xmas!
