Autumn Treats

As the leaves start to fall and our thoughts turn to home-cooked casseroles and cosy nights in by the fire, it’s a good time to think about adding to or updating the kitchen ready for the festive season that lies in the not-too-distant future. With this in mind, here are some of the latest products and innovations that will turn any kitchen into a room to be reckoned with…

Caple adds to its Metz kitchen collection
Kitchen specialist Caple has updated its extensive portfolio with the Metz Graphite range in a high gloss lacquer with integrated handle. Designed for modern living, it looks stunning teamed with a pale timber floor and wooden breakfast bar. The reflective finish is ideal for smaller spaces while the dark grey colourway is perfectly in keeping with the ongoing trend for this successful shade. Prices start from £228 for a 600mm base unit.

Grohe’s Blue Home is the perfect piece of kitchen kit

I was lucky enough to attend a launch event of the new Grohe Blue Home filtered still and sparkling water tap last month and it really opened my eyes to the wastefulness of bottled water. Did you know for instance, that it actually takes seven litres of water to produce one litre of the bottled stuff? Well Grohe has the solution with this compact system that only needs a kitchen cabinet with a 30cm width for installing the cooler. It has an intuitive colour-lit touch activator and comes in chrome or SuperSteel as well as three different spout styles. Not only is it great for drinking but you can also really taste the difference when you use it for cooking, too.

Brabantia has bins covered

Bo is a new touch bin from Brabantia, which features up to three inner buckets made from 100% recycled materials, so it’s great for waste separation. Made from 40% high-grade recycled materials, it’s the perfect height for easy cleaning and opens silently with the lightest touch. For compact kitchens, it fits closely to a wall or cabinet and comes in a range of vibrant colours.

Steel introduces integrated units

Italian manufacturer of beautifully crafted cooking appliances Steel has launched integrated units to its Ascot and Genesi ranges, allowing consumers to create a fully bespoke, streamlined design to suit their needs. The collection of stainless steel kitchen units, sinks and food prep stations offers the ideal complement to a Steel range cooker and is designed to visually match the appliances themselves. Choose from gloss black, cream, anthracite, burgundy and stainless steel as well as four exclusive Le Creuset colours – Amethyst, Mineral Blue, Cotton and Sisal.

Smeg adds smart new small appliances

Check out the HBF02 hand blender (£119.95) and KLF04 temperature gauge kettle (£149.95), new from Smeg’s signature retro collection. Both are available to buy at the brand’s first ever flagship store in London’s Regent Street.

Falmec adds authentic Italian heritage

Part of the Circle Tech collection, the Soffio extractor features a stunning circular canopy made from locally produced hand blown Murano glass. Available in white or amber, it makes for an eye-catching style statement with subtle lighting that glows through the glass. It’s also packed with tech, too. Unlike traditional extractor systems, this filtering unit works horizontally rather than vertically, allowing air to be expelled evenly for extraction rates up to 86% and a quiet noise level of 47-67dB. Prices start at £1,980.

Indesit launches dishwasher with BabyCare cycle

The eXtra range of dishwashers from Indesit now includes a model with a dedicated BabyCare programme and a special BabyZoo set of accessories. The DFP 58T96Z UK has a unique cycle that eliminates 99.9999% of bacteria and an A++ energy rating. Added benefits include a height adjustable upper basket, high-grade stainless steel interior liner for better drying performance and an eXtra programme that allows you to remove the top basket and wash items that measure up to 53cm in height in just one hour.

Bosch goes all out for colour

Add a splash of colour to the kitchen with the first fridge featuring changeable coloured doors. New from Bosch, the Serie 4 Vario Style model comes in a variety of shades such as lime green, red cherry, aqua blue, champagne and matt black – so now you can refresh your scheme whenever you fancy. The doors are simple to swap over using a combination of invisible hooks and magnets and the fridge is available from mid October exclusively at Currys.
