Milano Contour Kitchen in Mink by Wren Kitchens

Celebrity stylist and influencer Lou Teasdale reveals her minimalistic, glam kitchen, which has radically transformed her home. Lou, former hairstylist and make-up artist to the band One Direction, has completely revamped her Victorian property in London’s Hackney.

Thanks to clever planning and her creative eye, Lou’s sleek open-plan design from Wren Kitchens looks simply stunning as well as adding value to her home. As she’s admittedly got the property bug, Lou has put the house on the market and it has already sold. Admittedly Lou is going to miss it, and potential buyers were blown away with the space, as it creates a striking focal point with designer vibes thanks to its gold and white colour theme.

All about offering luxury yet affordable kitchens, Wren is the face behind several glamorous celebrity collaborations, such as Rylan Clark-Neal, Lucy Watson, Lydia Bright and Megan McKenna. Lou shares her home with daughter Lux and dog Spud, and tells us about the statement island and floor-to-ceiling units with hidden storage and integrated appliances. “From the beginning, I really wanted an impressive kitchen,” she explains. “I think it needed a real focal point and something special. I’m so pleased – it looks expensive and like a custom-made kitchen. Luckily, we had it installed before lockdown and it’s been a godsend, as it’s ended up been the best room in the house!”

Lou’s contemporary Infinity Plus Milano Contour kitchen in off-white matt Mink, is framed with gleaming gold profiles and icy white quartz worktops. “It was a little bit of an extravagance choosing quartz worktops, but it was something I really wanted,” she says. “It makes the room feel really bright and it’s made a huge difference to the kitchen. My favourite thing about the kitchen though is the hot water tap, which we use all day – it’s such a game changer. It’s so much quicker than waiting for water to boil and I like clean surfaces so it’s nice not to clutter my worktop with a kettle.”

Lou obviously has a keen eye for interior design. She has accessorised her space with mid-century pieces such as an eye-catching globe chandelier, a retro star-burst clock and eclectic pieces arranged on exposed metal shelving. The open-plan space leads to a Scandi inspired living area and dining space, which overlooks the industrial-style Crittall doors directly leading out to the inviting garden, a perfect example of the indoor-outdoor living.

Lou worked closely with Wren’s expert designer to create her bespoke look. “The designer took on the role of my husband, as I needed someone to collaborate with and he was making the space work for me until I was happy. I think I was about three hours designing the kitchen, because I really wanted it get it right, and the designer) spent that time with me to make sure it was perfect.”

Wren Kitchens’ Design Director Darren Watts, explains further, “Lou had a vision from the outset on how she wanted her kitchen to look. We closely collaborated with her to offer our knowledge and expertise on the design and we think it looks absolutely amazing. “The contemporary handleless units and glistening gold profile offer a real designer aesthetic and it’s the perfect canvas to add her own personality, which she’s applied perfectly.”

After spending four years renovating the entire house, Lou has reluctantly put it on the market. “This house has just been sold,” she says, “so I’ve been hosting viewings and the kitchen is the most popular thing about the house. It’s just got a nice vibe to it and a new kitchen can really add a lot of value to your property. I’ve already got my eye on my next home. I’m looking forward to doing it all over again and I’m sure I will be visiting Wren Kitchens!”
