New kitchen looks for winter

By

Now the weather’s turned and we’ll all be spending more time indoors (again)… it’s time to start thinking about creating a cosy retreat in the hub of the home, the kitchen. Here’s my pick of best buys and latest looks coming your way this season.

MAGNET LAUNCHES NORDIC NATURE

Inspired by the natural beauty of the Nordic woods, valleys, mountains and fjords, Magnet’s new Nordic Nature range features oak-effect doors in smooth, fluted and glass-fronted designs – echoing the tactile forms found in nature. This exciting new range provides homeowners with another way to bring the outdoors in, connecting with nature and enjoying the wellbeing and calming benefits it brings.

The brand-new Nordic Nature frontal is a natural oak finish cabinet in two styles – Nordic Oak and Nordic Oak Wave. Nordic Oak is an oak slab door that juxtaposes the fluted texture of Nordic Oak Wave to create the perfect balance of smooth wood and warm tactility. These cabinets can be seamlessly paired with neutral cabinets from other Magnet ranges, such as the calming hues of Hoxton Pebble – also new to Magnet this autumn. The fluted glass cabinetry, named Vitrine Black Wave, provides a rippled contrast inspired by the cool streams and famous fjords of Scandinavia.

Bespoke elements include floating worktops, a choice of handle design, rounded end panels, fluted details, oak storage, a black linear light beam that can be controlled by smartphone, voice control or an optional kinetic switch as well as ribbed plinths. All of the wood is responsibly sourced and manufactured using 100% renewable electricity, and any timber waste from the manufacturing process is either repurposed, recycled, or reused to heat Magnet’s manufacturing site.

SMEG’S NEW BEAN-TO-CUP COFFEE MACHINE AND HAND MIXER

Small yet smart, the BCC02 Bean to Cup coffee machine from Smeg is packed with innovative features to brew the perfect coffee from start to finish at the touch of a button. With an array of styles and grinding levels, users can experiment and discover their perfect brew. A primary and secondary menu function creates ristretto coffee, espressos and americanos, as well as hot water. For those after a caffeine hit, different strengths and levels can also be selected via the touch menu. Lattes, macchiatos or cappuccinos more your thing? Frothy milk can be produced at the touch of a button and the machine will grind coffee to the perfect texture. It comes in a brushed aluminium and contemporary matte black, red, taupe or white finish with the iconic curvaceous fifties look.

The Smeg HMF01 hand mixer meanwhile is a must for budding bakers. The small but powerful 250W appliance offers all the features needed to whip cream, mix up batters and small batches of dough. Included are three attachments – wire whisks, beaters and dough hooks, plus a handy cloth storage bag. The most notable element is its nifty backlit LED screen that displays the chosen speed as well as a timer, showing minutes and seconds for ease and accuracy when whipping up new recipes and closely following instructions.
