Rabanadas Portuguese Dessert

Rabanadas – serves 4


  • 1 French bread stick from the day before
  • 3 dl milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 300 g sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 lemon peel
  • Oil (for frying)

Preparation time: 1 hours


  1. Boil the milk with 2 tbs of sugar and the lemon peel
  2. Whip the eggs very well
  3. Cut the bread into slices of about 1.5 cm and dip each slice in the milk first and then in the whipped eggs
  4. Fry the prepared slices in hot oil
  5. Serve sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar (or sugar syrup)

To drink: a nice Port
